The Swarm

We expanded on our experience in the Leisure sector with The Swarm, Thorpe Park. Built by Swiss manufacturer, Bolliger & Mabillard, the ride, known as a wing rider, features a unique seating arrangement where guests are positioned either side of the track with nothing above or below them.

Service Delivery

Acted as Civil and Structural Engineering Consultants for Thorpe Parks new ‘coaster. Taking the ride layout we developed an innovative foundation solution allowing rapid installation and offering cost savings.

Meticulous attention to detail was required to position the near-miss elements with precision and confidence throughout the ride, working closely with contractors, architects and creative teams to complete the project prior to the 2012 opening date. HBL Associates were responsible for the design of many of the theming elements, specifically the structural design and positioning of the damaged wing and fuselage.
