The project consisted of two and single storey educational buildings and associated facilities, also incorporating steel bridge links from first floor classrooms to external play areas. Budget constraints dictated cost effective, practical design and construction detailing.

Service Delivery

We provided consulting structural engineering services, including design and detailing of foundations, substructure and superstructure with coordinated site inspections during the construction stage.

Adoption of a specialist ground improvement scheme, to a defined performance specification provided a cost effective (shallow) foundation solution utilising a semi-raft design.

The steel frame option, with precast concrete plank upper floors facilitated efficiency in erection of the supporting structure for roof and floor elements giving benefits in terms of contract programming and management of the construction works.

Construction process had to accommodate the continued occupation and operation of existing school facilities on site. Completion was achieved within budget.
