Overview
HBL was part of the design team that helped to restore the old Wesleyan Methodist Church, located in the heart of Manchester.
The grade II listed building was constructed in 1910 but had fallen into a state of disrepair. The impressive, first-floor prayer hall was carefully refurbished and converted into a live performance venue in time for Maxine Peake’s powerful performance in ‘The Masque of Anarchy’ at the Manchester International Festival in 2013.
The converted chapel has subsequently become one of the most atmospheric music and events venues in the UK.
